"Mods shock".....no not a defeat, the fact we conceded a goal!
Another solid performance from Andy Hicks troops, as they march on in the Hancock Cup.
1-0 up after first 5 minutes saw Michael Keeney's great work down the left flank result in a shot from the by-line at such a tight angle power past the Trinity keeper, and a business as usual flyer for the mods to settle them down and allow them to start playing.
'Gimp of the game award' was obviously something keeney had his eye on as he lept for a bicycle kick clearance on the halfway line, squeeled like a girl from a fair tackle (such a high pitch that dogs from behind neighbouring bedquilts gardens were flocking as the squeeling pitch was that high!!)
Mods then found themselves under some pressure, and with the 'quality' of bedquilts pitch had to adapt their footballing game to one of grit and fight as they held back a pressing trinity outfit.
A few dirty challenges and kickouts from their baldy thomas graveson midfielder were soon nipped in the bud tho as skipper Jodie let them know whos boss with crunching tackles, and the modsmen followed his lead and went in half time with the 1-0 lead.
2nd half the redmen came out strong again, as Matty Campbell decided to leave his anchoring midfield role to pick the ball up at the halfway, battle thru a couple of players, bounced a quick 1-2 off Keeney's backside with only a defender to beat. A 'megs' was in order as he skipped round the last man, and slotted it past the keeper to extend the lead.
The 3rd goal came to a man fully deserved and Man of the match in my opinion Toddy, whos skills, pace and energy brought an extra dimension to the 3rds squad, as great work from midfield maestro Tim Hill drove through, and Toddy knocked it in for the 3-0.
A late consolation for the visitors as a whipped in free kick was punched out by Damo, but only as far as their midfielder who knocked it straight across and into the net.
Another battle, another conquest- on on on, who dares challenge next!
Spirit in the camp is superb, and long may this continue, as the results page looks green making that 10 wins from 10!
