Match Report

Match Report - 20 Feb 2010, Leeds Modernians Football Club 3rds lost to Sandal Wanderers

A match we could, perhaps should, have won. Although 2-0 and 3-1 up, we never really had control of a game because we couldn't stop them creating chances, although they had similar problems at their end of a pitch that really favoured attackers. At 3-3 it could have gone either way, but our chances were missed, and they made their last chance count. Once gain the referee added credence to the theory that the more the referee has to say before a game (and boy did he go on) the less good he is when the game finally starts.

In many ways it was frustrating to lose a game when so many players played well. Roy and Lewis were very impressive down the left, Horrigan and Williams a constant menace and Joe Frazer made a superb, goal scoring debut. Sam Young provided a great 30 minute cameo and perhaps if he'd come on earlier things might have been different, whilst his namesake was superb in goal.

MOM Sam Lawson

The after match press conference----

"Where am I?" (Richard March)

" I quite enjoyed the game, but it was very heavy pitch and to be honest the last 85 minutes were a bit of a struggle (Mullin manager)

" It just felt good being 'out'" (Sam 'the taxi was asking for it' Lawson)
