Match Report - 27 Mar 2010, Leeds Modernians Football Club 3rds lost to Sandal Athletic Reserves

What an effin catastrophe. Losing to a team we beat 6-0 at a canter earlier in the season was a bitter pill to swallow. A truly dreadful start eventually saw us go a goal down after they missed a couple of great chances. We eventually woke up, and got ourselves ahead by half time. The lead lasted bearly 5 mins of the second half until a rash challenge by Chris 'this is probably the worst game I have have ever played in my illustrious career' Roy gave them a free kick which their gifted forward thumped home. They got a third, we equalised through a penalty made and scored by the prodigal son (Duffy) only to concede a sickening last minute goal to almost, almost, kill off our promotion chances.

How, why, did it happen, discuss. Too many old players, who have given their absolute all over a gruelling season, really feeling the pace. As such, they have not been in the best position (i.e. knackered, and desperately struggling for form) to get the best out of the younger players. The site of Mullin manager giving an impression of a man 10 years older than he actually is, in centre midfield, is not a pretty, or inspiring one.

Still, all is not yet lost---we have a plan.

In the press room---

"We still beat them over the 2 legs" Mullin manager finds a straw to clutch at.
"At least I'm getting in the right positions" Carl Horrigan
"Forget this week, its gone, just back me to score the winner in the last minute next week" Matty (the prescient) Lewis
