Match Report - 09 Apr 2011, Leeds Modernians Football Club 1sts drew with Trinity OB
The game was well-contested and very well-refereed by Colin Woods, and a draw felt about right. Tom Priestley, who was very good throughout, put Trinity ahead with a towering header from a corner and Si Oliver equalised with a very well-directed glancing header from a free-kick. We weren't at our most fluent, but this was - in large part - down to the performance by the visitors, who were neat, inventive and combative [without being at all dirty]. Chris Gardiner caught the eye for Trinity with his know-how and vision in central midfield and Robbie Pearson showed his customary quality on the ball and threatened down the left flank. It's difficult to think of a Mods player who shone throughout the game, but it was pleasing to see another afternoon of selfless work from the talented Jamie Duffy up-front. Clearly, we were looking to secure three points in the hunt for the title, but there is little doubt in my mind that the impressive Trinity - who are a really good bunch of lads - merited a point.
