Match Report - 20 Mar 2022, Leeds Modernians Football Club Mods U15s drew with Leeds 28
Mods secured a well deserved point away at a chilly Leeds 28 and can consider themselves unlucky not to come away with all the spoils. Both Mods' goals game against the wind in the first half with Freddie Hoole opening the scoring earlier on with a thunderous drive which not even Illan Meslier would have kept out. Considering Freddie was returning from an ankle injury and wasn't 100% fit , it was a terrific strike. The next goal came not long after, with Sam Anteney scoring a beauty into the top corner. With Ollie Browell scoring a worldy the week before, Mods are certainly showing that they aren't afraid to have a pop at goal from outside the box. Harry Hoole brought back memories of Bryan Robson in his prime with a dominant midfield performance laced with some crunching tackles and silky passing and with Alex mopping up any attacking threat , Mods controlled the first half . Surprisingly, with the wind behind them, Mods weren't able to stamp as much authority on the game in the second half. Leeds 28 rotated their team and the momentum started to swing and it was almost inevitable when they pulled one back. A second followed shorty with both teams having further chances before the referee blew the whistle on an entertaining encounter. Whilst the lads were disappointed not have come away with all three points, considering Mods lost the reverse fixture 10 - 5, a great result overall. League action makes way for the cup quarter final against Churwell next Sunday when the lads will be hoping to make it a Mother's Day to remember .
