Match Report

Match Report - 17 Sep 2011, Old Modernians Football Club 4ths lost to Norristhorpe

We scored 3 (obviously) and could have had 5 or 6, they scored 5 and could have had 10. Suffice to say, attacks were on top. We went in at half time 2-0 down, which given the fact we had been pulverized for most of ther half by a very good, fast, young, hungry (probabaly literally) Norristhorpre team was a huge relief.

The second half was a different story, and with 5 mins to go we had a great chance to make it 4-4 which would have been a just reward for a hugely improved performance in the second half. Tim Hill selflessly subjugated any individual aspirations to pretty much nullify their star midfielder, unfortunately Mullin manager was unable to do likewise to their other star midfielder (no-one told us about him).

In the end, a very encouraging performance, from a new team that is bound to suffer a few set backs before becoming a real force in this league, which we will.

MOM Andy Thorpe

In the press conference;

"I've had a word with the chairman,and the board, and they are right behind me" Mullin manager batting off suggestions he could be the first YOBL manger to be shown the door in 2011.

"I just said I was already warmed up" Bryan Kidd repudiating suggestions he was reluctant to come on.

"Bring back Matty Lewis" (Matty Lewis).
