It was 120degrees on the copa del cookridge arena this week, and yet nothing was hotter than the continued confidence and form the mods took into this unknown Calverley game.

A 'warm-up' wasnt required, all that modsmen were focussed upon was the continued flair, teamwork and swashbuckling style of play the gaffer had instilled into them in their 100% start so far.

A couple of forced changes for the gaffer this week saw the in form Sam Lawson move up a team, and 'Dangermouse Damo' getting the nod in sticks. The bench of Keeney and Sproats shows the quality and depth, with Tim Hill getting the job of partnering Lazenby and Stenger in the middle of the park.

It was the early pressures of Tim 'ca-hill' that terrorised, and linkup play with Dan White saw a great move finished off in emphatic style.

It wasnt long before Tim drove a shot past the box leaving the keeper no chance. Mods 2-0 up.

Adam 'usain' Binns was electric seeing a lot of the ball down the right hand side and caused havoc, found Tim who whipped in a cross and picked out Matty 'i like 3 yard goals' only for the keeper to pull off a point blank save from the scoring winger.

Dan White also squandered a close range header, but it wasnt long before Adam binns lost his marker and nipped in to bag his 3rd goal of the campaign.

Little reply came from the visitors, just a breaking run down the right hand side with damo making a sharp save to deny any glimmer of hope, doing right the only thing he had to do all game.

This emphatic start continued and a cricket score looked inevitable as Tim Hill bagged his second with a sweet notch in past the keeper to take mods 4-0 up at half time.

Lack of water hasnt halted the boys the past few weeks(!), but the pre-season hard work was certainly paying off as the boys pushed on for more. With all this scoring going on, Matty Campbell felt he was missing out on the action, so decided to join in with 2 consecutive goals in the space of 5 minutes, the 1st a great cross field pass from Ashy only for Campbell to drill a left foot bullet past the crying keeper. The second was soon after, as the ball fell out of a scramble on the penalty spot only for Campbell to slot in bottom corner to net his 6th goal in 3 games.

More goals developed as fresh legs of Keeney and Sproats terrorised the attack, linking up well, and a great through ball beautifully finished off by the returning mikel kenney, showing his class.

It was nail in the coffin though as Mike Sproats got that vital 8th goal that mods were looking for, and was the best of the bunch as he hit a screamer with his left peg into the roof of the net.

This was a 1 way traffic, as modsmen are happy again with all the share of the points, but know tougher opposition will be ahead of them soon, but spirit in the camp is high, so high that even Andy Shirley fancied his chances with a run down the left hand side, releasing a shot on goal that cannoned off the crossbar.

Another clean sheet for the rocks in defence, Ashy,Tag,Shirley and Ryan Kerr, thats 4 wins out of 4, 21 goals scored and just 1 conceded!

Workrate in midfield covering a lot of ground, as the skipper lazenby has to be proud of his troops as they deliver the goods yet again!!

Well played again lads.

Mods mods mods......on on on!!
