Match Report - 15 Oct 2011, Old Modernians Football Club 4ths beat Old Thornesians Reserves
It was over a year since I'd had the pleasure of playing at North West Leeds answer to the Emirates, Estadio de Bedquilts. As the saying goes, if you can't play football there, you're in good company. The kind of place that could make Lionel Messi look like Neil Bennington on an off day, where dogs refuse to crap and where a true bounce is as rare as a Matty Lewis complement. The kind of place that makes you pine for Salandine Nook, where true football ability is disguised to such an extent there is no way of distinguising between the first touches of Adam 'that seems to have got away from me slightly' Binns and Josh 'Xavi Alonso' Williams.
A scrap of a game duly took place against dogged if limited opponents, and the game was only won in the 90th minute by a sublime strike from the ever improving Josh Smith. Diffucult for anyone else to really stand out, apart perhaps from Matt Flint and the young referee, who notwithstanding a propensity to make some bizarre pre match requests "Coach could you clear that dog muck from the goal line" (well yes, but no easier than you could) had a fine game under the eyes of his assessors.

After the match in the press tent;
"I'm glad that's over" All.
